Dr. Hong studied medicine in Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China.
After residency training in Neurosurgery and a neurointerventional fellowship in Xuanwu hospital, Beijing, China, he became faculty in department of neurosurgery, Xuanwu hospital, Capital Medical University, Beiijng, China as a neurovascular surgeon in 2015.
He was a research fellow in Toronto Western Hospital with Dr. Timo Krings.
He is currently appointed to Neurosurgery and interventional Neuroradiologist at Xuanwu hospital.
He is a Full Professor of neurosurgery in Capital Medical University, Beijing.
Dr. Hong is an experienced neurosurgeon on hemorrhage pathologies, especially brain and spinal AVMs.
Focusing his research efforts on Mechanism and Treatment of CNS vascular malformation, Dr. Hong has published 16 peer reviewed articles, including 6 articles on NEJM, BRAIN and JAMA Neurolgy.
