As a physician specialist in Radiology with scientific skills in Genetics, Romain Bourcier has a rare background that allows the heading of the ICAN project. He coordinates this project and has set up a translational program aiming to better understand the pathophysiology of ICA. This local partnership has rapidly developed into a nationwide collaborative network. Romain Bourcier has built a multidisciplinary collaboration between neuroradiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, geneticists, cardiologists, ophthalmologists, vascular specialists, computer scientists and biologists. During his postdoctoral training at the Department of Vascular Neurology led by Prof. Gabriel Rinkel at the UMC Utrecht (The Nertherlands), Romain Bourcier has worked in collaboration with Ynte Ruigrok who leads the ICA axis of the International Stroke Genetics Consortium
